Welcome to BSA Troop 155

Sponsored by Concordia Lutheran School in Peoria, IL.

Troop 155--and the Boy Scouts of America--is dedicated to building young men of good character who are responsible, participating citizens and are mentally and physically fit. We accomplish this through a well developed program of education and personal challenges revolving around outdoor activities...hiking, camping, sports, etc....which typically appeal to a young man's sense of adventure. In performance of this mission, Troop 155 is committed to holding at least one "outing" every month...rain or shine...or snow.

To find out more about the places we've been and the things we've accomplished...click on "Adventures" in the site menu.

We meet in the Concordia School gymnasium -- gym entrance is at rear of school -- on Tuesday nights at 6:30pm. Concordia Lutheran School is located at 2000 W. Glen Ave. (on Glen between University and War Memorial Drive / Hwy 150...click here for map).

November Committee Meeting - November 5th
There will be a Troop Committee Meeting on Thursday, November 5th, at 7:00pm, in the Concordia School Resource Room.

At the top of the agenda for this meeting will be a status report on our "Holiday Season Fundraiser" selling wreaths and Malkins jam. We will also discuss plans for the Winter Court of Honor / Christmas Party (Dec. 17th) and for the late Winter and Spring calendar of events.

It is also anticipated that the Senior Patrol will be presenting some of its plans for the "program" this fall during the troop meetings.

All Parents and Scouters are encouraged to attend and "get the skinny" on what's going on with Troop 155.

Upcoming Events

Nov. 16-17 Loch Loyd Campout
Our next adventure of the Fall 2002 schedule is in the works. We will be camping at "Loch Loyd" on Saturday, Nov 16th and Sunday, Nov. 17th. This will be a great opportunity for Scouts to complete some of the "campout dependent" requirements for rank advancement before our next Court of Honor in December.

Brian Loyd (the owner of this property and a Troop 155 Eagle Alumnus) has graciously extended an open invitation for the Troop to take advantage of this GREAT camping, fishing and boating location...and we are gratefully looking forward to taking him up on this offer.

At this point, we are planning to leave Concordia at 8:30am on Saturday the 16th and return to Concordia at noon on the 17th. Because the site is VERY close to Peoria, it will be possible for Scouts to arrive later in the day -- or even leave and return, if required (with prior approval from the Adult leadership).

Patrol cooking (adult and Scout) will be the order of the day. Grubbing expenses will be determined and divided by the patrol members...but should not exceed $10 per participant.

Please watch this space for details, changes, and a map (as soon as the webmaster can aquire one).

Dec. 14-16 Wokanda 2002
Most of the Scouts would probably say that our "annual" winter camp at Wokanda is one of the highlights of our camping season (second only to any campout we can schedule at Red Rock...perhaps). There was no way that the adult leadership could dissuade them from scheduling this event for 2002.

The attraction, of course, is the opportunity to camp in the "Adirondacks" (which are 3 sided sheds that look alot like the traditional stable you might find in any Nativity setting).

The majority of adults, of course, will choose to "wimp out" and sleep on bunks in the West Ridge cabin. Hey, its COLD out there in December!

Rental costs have gone up, so the cost of this event will be $15 per Scout and $25 per Scouter or adult.
