Klondike Derby, Camp Wokanda, January 29-31, 2009 <See Pictures>

Our troop competed in winter fun at the District Klondike Derby.  Three patrols moved their new Klondike sleds through ten different stations like snow shoe races, first aid, "sluicing" for gold, fire building and team skiing.   The troop spent Friday and Saturday night  in two cabins on the ridge.  

  

Catapult Campout & Locking, December 6-7, 2008 <See Pictures>

Patrols built catapults by lashings together material.  Hedge apples were then flung and distance judged.  Afterwards all scouts spent the night at Pierce Community center swimming and playing dodgeball until the early morning hours.

Scouts learned the basics of scuba diving and earned their Scuba BSA patch.

Heartland District Fall Camporee called BSA Survivor.  Scouts completed course of  demonstrating scout skills.


Devils Lake, Baraboo, WI October 3-5, 2008 <See Pictures>

Scouts arrived late on Friday night. Saturday was spent hiking around the beautiful lake vistas and climbing & rappelling on this warm fall day.

Camped at Illinois Valley Yacht Club Friday through Sunday. Spent some time on the Illinois River. Hosted by Sea Scouts.

Each patrol fixed and shared a dutch oven  main dish.

Starved Rock April 11-12, 2008   <See Pictures>

Two day focused on training Scouts and adults on outdoor scouting skills.  Camp was interesting with much rain, cold, and wind.   

Sand Ridge Mar 15-16, 2008   <See Pictures>

Two day campout to Sand Ridge State Park south of Pekin.  Scouts arrived on Saturday morning and after setting up tents (in the snow) worked on a service project to removed saplings from an open field, visited Jake Wolf Fish Hatchery and completed an orienteering course.  

Merit Badge Fair Feb 25, 2008   <See Pictures>

Scouts spent a meeting visiting with merit badge councilors and learning more about the badges they teach.  

Ski & Water Park Trip Feb 8-11, 2008   <See Pictures>

Three day skiing trip to Cascade & Devilshead Mountains which also included a visit to a waterpark.  The Troop spent the nights at Camp Gray. 

Ingersoll Winter Camp,  Jan 11-13, 2008 <See Pictures>

Winter camp inside Ingersoll's dinning hall.  Compass courses, five mile hike, games and some boys building an outdoor shelter to earn the Polar Bear award.   

Wokonda Winter Camp,  Dec 7-9, 2007 <See Pictures>

Winter camp at camp Wokonda.  Stayed inside cabins, sledding down huge hills, wilderness survival training and had a few boys spend the night outside in homemade shelters.   

Trail Building, Robinson Park, Peoria,  Nov 25, 2007 <See Pictures>

Seven scouts participated in a service project to mulch section 2 of the Illinois River Bluff Trail in Robinson Park.   

Eagle Cave, Blue River, WI,  Nov 10 - 11, 2007 <See Pictures>

About 50 scouts and adults explored the nooks and crannies of Eagle Cave.  Weekend also included a night hike, Bingo and sleeping the night of floor of the cave.  

ISR Fall Camporee, Oct 4 12- 14, 2007 <See Pictures>

The theme to this year's Fall Camporee was "Games with a Purpose".  There was multiple events, which will focused on the Patrol, Leadership, Teamwork, Cooperation, and Resourcefulness. The 30 minute rotations at camp Ingersoll consisted of  22-rifle shooting, archery, "fishing", knot tying to suspending a log between two poles, flag pole lashing/raising, canoe course, and skit  judging.

Clinton Lake, Sept 7-9, 2007 <See Pictures>

Campout to Clinton Lake with a water theme.  Scouts canoed, water skied, wake boarded, tubed and worked on rank advancement with a five mile hike.  Great campsite which overlooked lake and sandy beach.

Philmont Double H , July 2-8, 2007 <See Pictures>

Double H High Adventure Base is a Philmont Scout Ranch's located in Datil, New Mexico with over 100,000 acres of rugged wilderness.  Seven-day backpacking programs give crews the freedom to hike without trails. A Wilderness Guide accompanies the crew for the entire trek. Programs include geocaching, GPS navigation skills, challenge/team building events, black powder shooting, archery, astronomy, conservation projects, search & rescue, and more.

USS Silversides. Muskegon , MI March 4-5, 2007 <See Pictures>

Trip to Great Lakes Navel Museum where we toured and  sleep the night on the WWII submarine USS Silversides SS-236.  Highlights of the submarine adventure were eating pizza in the crew galley, sleeping next to torpedoes in the Forward Torpedo room and re-living history as we moved about sub.  We also went to the Muskegon Sports Complex where they checked out the Olympic training Luge site, ice skated and cross country skied.

Fall Camporee, September 23, 2006, <See Pictures>

Approximately 250 Boy Scouts from 23 troops, 100 Webelos from 15 Cub Scout packs, and 150 adults, leaders and volunteers from the Heartland District of the W.D Boyce Council took part in the “Masters of Disaster” camporee on Saturday, September 23, 2006 in Jubilee State Park north west of Peoria to learn emergency preparedness skills.  This event was organized and hosted by our troop. <Read the Full Description of the Event>


Cache Lake, July 28th - August 6th 2006 <See Pictures>

Troop 88 high adventure to the WD Boyce Council's scout camp in Ontario Canada.  Scouts swam, fished, canoed, water skied, sailed and worked on merit badges. 23 young men and 10 adults attended the camp.
